Homemade Cat Treats: Vet Approved 4-ingredient Recipe

It’s the holiday season and you’ve likely spent some time in the kitchen making baked goods, but what about your furry family members? In this post we're going to walk through a simple recipe to make some homemade cat treats.
Below are the instructions on how to make 4 ingredient cat treats! It’s super simple, so give it a shot!
Ingredients
- 1 – 5.5 oz can of tuna (I looked for sustainably sourced tuna with little or no added salt)
- 1 cup of all purpose flour
- 1 large egg
- 1 tablespoon of organic dried catnip
Step 1:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees
Step 2:
Blend all ingredients in a food processor until a smooth dough forms
Step 3:
Place small balls of dough (1/4 tsp) onto a parchment lined cookie sheet and slightly flatten (if you have a small mold like us, fill it up)
Step 4:
Bake in preheated oven for approximately 15 minutes.
Step 5:
Reward your fur baby with a homemade cat treat!
These cat treats should be stored in an airtight container for no more than 5 days.
Optionally, break it into small batches and freeze them!

Hi Goldie – Yes, you can substitute oat flour for the all-purpose flour in the recipe. I think you may need to reduce the amount of oat flour though since it’s not usually a 1:1 substitution. Keep in mind oat flour has a bit of a nutty flavor, so it will slightly change the flavor of the treat for your kitty. Happy baking :) Let us know how they turn out!
